You can transport the U-lock with the holder that comes with the lock or if you choose you can carry the lock with you in a backpack or bike bag. 

The hardened steel arc of the lock is difficult to break or split, and its lock seat is difficult to break. With a U-lock, you should lock the bike to something solid if possible. You should put the lock around the frame and the rear wheel, if any ways possible.

Note: With the cable dispatched with this product, you can lock your bike in addition to the rear tire and frame, as well as the front tire by looping the cable through the front tire and the U-lock.
